What to expect at your appointment

After having reviewed your detailed history and comprehensive questionnaires a full hearing, tinnitus and/or balance evaluation will be done based on your symptoms and needs. All test results will be explained to you at the time of testing and reports of the findings can be forwarded to your physician. Appropriate follow up referrals to other health care providers for on-going care such as ENT's, general practitioners or physical therapists will be discussed with you.

We will discuss if hearing aids or tinnitus relief programs are viable options for you, we will discuss how they can improve communication for you especially in background noise or when in small group situations. Our qualified counselors will also discuss the impact hearing difficulties have on your mood, your withdrawing from social situations, and the frustrations you encounter day to day when trying to communicate with family and friends. Your audiologist will guide you through the process of choosing the right style and type of hearing aid for you. The audiologist will work closely with you and if desired, your family members, to ensure you achieve optimal listening ability in spite of your hearing loss. We encourage you to undergo a hearing aid trial during your Hearing Aid Consultation to sample what current digital amplification sounds like.

Our services include the following:

Hearing Assessment

We see patients 5 years old and above. Younger children are referred to Pediatric Audiologists in our other branches. We have state-of-the-art equipment and experienced professionals who can evaluate your hearing. We use special diagnostic equipment to test your hearing. Combined with the knowledge of our specially trained audiologists, you'll know exactly what it will take to have better hearing health.

Balance Evaluations

Vestibular assessment evaluates the function of the vestibular portion of the inner ear and the brain for patients who are experiencing symptoms of vertigo, unsteadiness, dizziness, and other balance disorders. Hearing evaluation tests are frequently combined with vestibular studies for the identification of inner ear disorders or central problems.

Tinnitus Evaluations

Once cleared by a physician that your tinnitus is not due to a medical condition which must be treated, we will test your hearing and word recognition ability and will then assess the nature of your perceived tinnitus for pitch and loudness, provocation etc. The appropriate therapy will then be reviewed with you for habilitation.

Hearing Aid Prescription and Fitting Of The Full Range Of Hearing Aids Including Digital Technology

A wide variety of hearing instruments featuring the latest technology. Our staff emphasizes ongoing cleaning and maintenance after your hearing aid purchase to insure you receive optimum performance and benefit from your hearing aids. Repairs are provided on all makes and models with loaner hearing aids available when necessary.

Battery Sales

All batteries are toxic and dangerous if swallowed. Keep all batteries (and hearing aids) away from children and pets. If anyone swallows a battery it is a medical emergency and the individual needs to see a physician immediately.

One question often asked is "How long does the battery last?". Typically they last 7-14 days based on 16 hours per day use cycle. Batteries are inexpensive, costing less than LKR 100. Generally, the smaller the battery size, the shorter the battery life. The sizes of hearing aid batteries are listed below along with their standard number and color codes.
